ProRes

Definition

A family of video codecs developed by Apple used for high-quality video post-production and delivery. ProRes 422 HQ is a common delivery format for streaming platforms because it balances quality and file size. Most platforms require a ProRes master as part of their deliverables.

Example

A 90-minute film in ProRes 422 HQ at 1080p might be approximately 60GB, while the same film in 4K could be 200GB or more.
