SAG-AFTRA
Definition
Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. The labor union representing approximately 160,000 film and television performers. If your production uses SAG-AFTRA actors, you must comply with union rules regarding pay rates, working conditions, residuals, and fringes. SAG-AFTRA also offers low-budget contract tiers for indie productions.
Example
The SAG-AFTRA Modified Low Budget Agreement allows productions with budgets under $250,000 to pay actors at a reduced day rate while still providing union benefits.
