Distribution

Self-Distribution

Definition

The practice of distributing a film without a traditional distributor. Filmmakers handle platform relationships, deliverables, marketing, and revenue collection themselves, often using aggregators like Filmhub for technical delivery. Self-distribution gives filmmakers full control and higher revenue percentages but requires significant time and marketing expertise.

Example

A filmmaker uploads their film to Filmhub, which delivers it to Tubi, Amazon, and Apple TV. The filmmaker runs their own Facebook ad campaigns and uses a Filmcane smart link to drive traffic.
