Exclusivity
Definition
A contractual restriction that prevents a filmmaker from distributing their film on certain platforms or in certain territories for a specified period. Exclusive deals often come with higher licensing fees but limit your ability to reach audiences on other platforms. Non-exclusive deals allow wider distribution but typically pay less.
Example
A platform might offer $50,000 for a 12-month exclusive SVOD deal, meaning your film cannot appear on any other subscription service during that period.
