A contractual clause that returns distribution rights to the filmmaker after a specified period or if the distributor fails to meet certain performance obligations. Rights reversion is important because it allows you to re-distribute your film if a platform underperforms or removes it. Always negotiate a reversion clause into distribution agreements to avoid your film being locked up indefinitely.

Your distribution contract includes a reversion clause: if the platform generates less than $1,000 in a 12-month period, all rights revert back to you after 90 days written notice.
